Men’s Tungsten Rings

Men’s Tungsten Rings have been a popular choice for Men’s Wedding Rings for some time and even more so in recent years. Most men have heard of Tungsten Rings and even have them as the first choice over the traditional Gold Wedding Band. Why are they so popular?Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metals at an astounding 6,191.6 degrees Fahrenheit and is such a durable metal due largely to its hardness. While a Diamond rates a 10 on the Moh’s scale of hardness… Tungsten comes in at a 9. Tungsten carbide is also approximately 2 and a half times harder than titanium and cobalt chrome.

So, what else makes Tungsten the go to choose for Men’s Wedding Rings? Simply it is the most scratch resistant metal known to man. This makes it perfect for Men who have heavy handed jobs in construction or building. Where the traditional high polished Gold band would be scratched and tarnished in only a few months with such jobs the Tungsten alternative holds up far better. It is also affordable, making it sometimes a better option when comparing the same style Ring in Gold or Platinum which do scratch easily. They also have a good weight to them… the average Men’s Ring weighs between 10 – 12 grams. This can sometimes be 4 – 6 grams heavier than the same Ring made in Gold. The benefit doesn’t stop there, where a Gold or Platinum band would need to be polished periodically to bring it back to life…the Tungsten ring would never need polishing meaning buyers again save on this cost.

It’s also a misconception but Tungsten rings are quick and easy to remove from your finger in case of medical emergency, easier than gold. Tungsten does not bend out of shape due to its hardness, so in an accident the ring will not become deform where it would injure your finger even more, but it is not indestructible. It will break if enough shock or pressure is applied to it.  The best news is that It is hypoallergenic. People with allergies to gold jewelry can wear tungsten jewelry. Tungsten wedding bands come in a natural gun metal grey colour, but can be plated black, white, or even gold colours.
